What’s A Tumblelog?

March 3, 2007

It’s just like a blog, but without all that annoying sub-amateur textual commentary drivel.

If that’s burnished your barnacle, check out Tumblr, or have a look at some flagship tumblelogs in action:

That one’s projectionist, and this one’s Anarchaia:

This is perfect for when you come across something cool and just want to share it with others. No quirky post titles, no fuss; just the good stuff. Tumblelogs can be anything you want them to be: a bunch of pictures you think are cool, haikus, quotes… And because there’s no need to write reams of explanatory text about what you’ve just posted, they tend to be updated more frequently. In fact, they’re a bit like del.icio.us bookmarks, but somehow cooler.

Check out the tumblelist for more, and mathasalotofideas for another example of fine tumblelogging.
